Garden Gems Greenhouse is owned by Donna Russell and has been in operation since 2001 as a full spectrum retail greenhouse. At the end of the 2005 season changes were made in their schedules hours of operation due to rising energy costs and the soaring prices of all plastic products.

Donna is a University of Illinois Certified Master Gardener as well as a self-taught horticulturist in the areas of annuals, perennials, and water plants.

Steve operates their parent company, Total Lawn Care, Inc., a complete lawn maintenance and installation business at the same location of 602 June Street. Their specialty areas include new lawn installations (hydro-seeding), enhancing existing lawns (slit seeding), retaining wall installation, and custom lawn care programs. The lawn care programs can be individually set up for your personal lawn needs which may include broadleaf weed control, crabgrass control, grub control, aeration, de-thatching, and fertilizing.

Now, the website will be offering current information on new varieties hitting the market, timely gardening suggestions, even new tools and techniques possibly! Having been in the retail arena for several years, there are FAQ's repeatedly voiced and some of those will be addressed, also.
