Garden Gems Greenhouse

...turning over a new leaf!
You bring the imagination!
Look What's Going On!
January: Believe it or not, the first crop of 'Wave' Petunias were planted on January 3rd, 2010. These early girls will be used for the Petunia Wonder classes being held in March. Regular petunias, portulaca, plumbago, gomphrena, salvia and pansies have been planted and are already sprouting, too!

February: Geranium cuttings arrive! 800 of the most beautiful flowers for the home gardener will be about 3" tall when they ship in. From the day they arrive, I'll be feeding them, watering them, watching out for pests and diseases and sweet talking them everyday!
Cold crops such as broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower are sown now to be ready for mid-March sales. The first crop of tomatoes and peppers are planted mid-month.

March: Petunia Wonder classes are as follows: 3/3 @ 4 pm, 3/5 @ 10 am, 3/7 @ 1 pm, 3/8 @ 4 pm and 3/13 @ 3 pm. Reservations are required.
Onion sets will be in during the first part of the month. Garden seed will also be available for the early gardener. Watch the Shopper for details.
Most of the planting will be completed in early March, but the transplanting phase of the growing season will be in full swing. Tagging, pricing, placement decisions as well as caring for the plants will be a daily task until opening day in mid April.

April & May: Hours will be posted in the Shopper and here when they are finalized. We will be open from 9-5 on Friday and Saturday for sure. Sunday hours will be noonish - 3. Plans are in the making for possible regular Monday-Thursday hours although you can usually catch me there after 3 pm daily after I finish at Sinclair's!
